Paul Connolly

My name is Paul Connolly and I’ve worked for 21 years at Ziff Davis, most recently as the Art Director of a technical trade publication called eWEEK, a controlled circulation magazine with 450,000 subscribers. Having worn many hats at Ziff, I’ve dealt with a grueling weekly schedule: producing covers, photo shoots, layouts, illustrations, charts, diagrams, columns, cartoons and more.
In 1994, I created the cartoon version of Spencer F. Katt, which I wrote and illustrated through its entire 15 year run. I also wrote the Spencer Katt Technology Rumor column from 2000 to 2007, the longest run any Ziff writer had with the column. Taking dry technology subject matter and making it interesting, humorous and compelling was my weekly mission. During that time, I also continued to perform full creative duties for eWEEK print and online.
Dealing with a weekly schedule and an extremely tight budget, has taught me to create fast, clean concepts, layouts and illustrations in various styles.
I would be interested in hearing from you regarding any creative/media positions that are available in your organization.
A PDF can be provided upon request that includes more samples of the various covers, pages, illustrations, diagrams, technology cartoons and columns I've created for Ziff.
